EDAPS Consortium presentation of high technologies

On September 19, 2006 EDAPS Consortium held a presentation of its new security ID technology. The presentation attracted state officials, business executives of Ukraine, representatives of state and commercial institutions and mass media.
EDAPS Consortium, a domestic manufacturing facility producing identity documents, was established utilizing Ukrainian technology and know-how.
The Consortium has extensive scientific and technological resources allowing it to be the largest (within Ukraine and Eastern Europe) executor of turn-key projects related to manufacturing of government document blank-forms and personalization of paper and plastic government documents; manufacturing of printing products with additional security features; manufacturing and personalization of plastic cards; development, delivery of data base systems, support and administration of complex information systems, design, manufacturing and delivery of holographic security elements and other types of holograms, etc.
Within the facility the visitors had a chance to see exhibits of the Consortium Member Enterprises and listen to the reports of consortium leadership.

Identity documents, manufactured in conformity with international standards, and other products developed and produced by the Consortium Member Enterprises, were demonstrated at the presentation.
EDAPS Consortium developed pilot models of new travel passports that meet all international standards incorporating the most advanced techniques: laser engraving and perforation, chip embedding, application of secure optically variable inks, etc.
Pilot models of new Ukrainian identity documents, developed by EDAPS Consortium, have been highly praised by European Union, OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) and in 2004 and 2006 – by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization). And if Ukraine itself is going to have the best, state of-the-art identity documents, the state shall take particular steps in this direction.
OSCE reported that Ukraine had achieved substantial progress in the sphere of developing of a secure state of-the-art travel document and the main task now is to provide other members of the Organization with this information for the purpose of project introduction and transfer such experience to other countries. Maybe this experience will help OSCE members in implementation of the same projects in their countries.
New developments, alongside with pilot models of a new Passport, EDAPS Consortium has developed samples of a Driving License and Vehicle Registration Certificate, which are already issued to Ukrainian citizens. These documents were highly praised internationally. 125 hardware and software systems were developed in the regions of Ukraine, providing personalization of drivers and cars data, documents issuing and their integrated record.
Holography Specialized Enterprise introduced and exhibited possible variations of existing excise duty stamp.
Znak enterprise produces plastic cards, including identity documents blank forms and polycarbonate passport pages. The enterprise is the leader in this sphere not only in Ukraine but in the Eastern Europe on the whole. Manufacturing capacities of the enterprise allow producing 100 million plastic cards per year. These cards can be used as payment, transport, telephone cards, cards for GSM telephony, Internet-cards, advertising and informational cards, discount cards, key-cards, social, pensionary, insurance cards, etc.
Within the period from 2004 till the first half of 2006 EDAPS Consortium Member Enterprises paid taxes and levies in the amount of 212 483 100 hrn.
EDAPS staff is sure that the new Ukrainian identity documents will become a point of pride for Ukrainian citizens, the symbol of Ukraine – a free and democratic European state.
