The largest bank in Belarus placed an order with the EDAPS Consortium member “Znak” Ltd. for almost one million bank cards

On July 25, 2007 a Ukrainian enterprise Znak Ltd. (city of Kiev, manufacturer of plastic cards; member of the EDAPS Consortium) won a tender for supplying plastic bank cards to the largest bank in Belarus – “Belarusbank” Savings Bank. As part of the contract Znak will deliver to Belarusbank 950.5 thousand plastic bank cards. To compare, the total number of plastic bank cards in the Ukrainian market in 2006 was 35-40 million.
Alexander Fomenko, commercial director of Znak Ltd. noted that “other large companies from various countries participated in the tender. We had been negotiating with Belarusbank for a long time. The bank’s representatives visited the plant. They praised Znak’s high manufacturing capacity, equipment and security systems.”

Belarusbank is the largest finance and credit establishment in Belarus that offers its clients more than 100 types of banking services and products. The size of its assets makes it the largest bank in the republic. The bank structure includes 6 regional branches, 103 local branches, 1807 locations and 35 banking services centers.
The Ministry of Economy holds 73.2% of stock in the bank; 26.5% of stock is held by the Minsk city management and regional management of the six regions in the country. The Bank was founded in 1922, but has existed in its present form since 1995, after the merger of the Belarus Republic Savings Bank (former regional branch of the USSR Savings Bank) and Belarusbank Commercial Bank.
